Role Playing as Therapy and Training

In the Grand scheme of things, the daily narrative is that we are all on a floating rock in a specific point in space time having to tackle the problem of survival and understanding. This simplification of life is a scary statement, however it can also be liberating.

When we think of life as a game of survival and a game of understanding it becomes easier to tackle. This period of my life I am seeing it as a strong game. A game where the goal is to understand the world around me, and my role in it.

In every game, especially RPG (Role Playing Game), the essential objective is cultivation of experience and understanding and expansion of a “Role”. This period of my life, I am exploring with amusement and excitement the avenues of two roles; That of an Oracle, and that of a bard.

Life doesn’t come with a manual. Or perhaps it does, if you consider religious texts as a manual. Naturally however, this manual isn’t attached to you. One has to seek to find that manual for themselves.

The prospect of Role-playing as a type of calming and centering therapy for the soul is a unique outlook on finding and anchoring in meaning.

As I explore books, games, and films on this website I am also exploring the concept of anchoring and mastering a specific role for my own life. In fact these very things, aid my practice of my favored role.

There are so many things to learn about this world when you start from zero, and see it as a cultivation experience. Be it, a cultivation of knowledge, wisdom, money, or power.
